"It is now 19 years when I began to occupy myself with dolls. I cannot exactly say what fascinates me on it. ... I simply like human beings, especially children. Modeling dolls means for me translating wishes, longings and feelings into a form as a painter paints a picture... Every collector who buys one of my dolls sees something in the doll that speaks to her personally... It needs many days and weeks to produce a doll from which one has the feeling that it possesses a 'soul.' One cannot overlook these "emotional faces.'"
