Emily Garthright Dolls

Emily Garthright is an artist, a sculptor, a painter, a craftsman and a seamstress. However, when it comes to dolls, she envisions herself as a simple storyteller. “Through my artworks and dolls, I like to suggest a story that the collector can build on themselves.”

Emily traces her love for storytelling and pageantry back to her childhood in Paris, Tennessee. Emily was an only child that made her become creative in her play.

A love for Barbie as a teenager tweaked her interest in fashion design. Her mother and her spent many hours sewing doll clothes. Emily considers her mother a wonderful seamstress who taught Emily to be a perfectionist. She taught her that you either do it right or you don't do it at all.

Emily was on the verge of a major gallery showing of her painting, but she walked away from it to create porcelain dolls. She does not have a real formula for success-she follows her heart and listens to what the doll says it wants to be. Emily admits that she has just scratched the surface of her new found art form and would like to develop her skills and experiment with several different mediums.

Her motto is simple-“You never get too comfortable with a situation-you don't grow as an artist that way. I just want to keep growing and building on what I know and experiment with different techniques. I feel like I have such a long way to go, but at least I feel like I have a beginning.”

Note: Don't miss Emily's limited edition dolls for Marie Osmond: Lavender Rose Toddler, and Young Love Rose Tiny Tot.  Both can be found in the Marie Osmond section of our site!
