Born in 1949 in Seoul, Korea, Sung Sam Park began painting at the age of twelve. His talent and teaching abilities were quickly recognized and by the age of thirteen, while still a junior high school student, Park taught at the local high school. Early on, Park attracted the attention of prominent artists and heads of state. Byun Si-Jin, former University president of Jai Island, was his private art teacher and mentor. The former president of South Korea, Yoo Bo-Sun, personally awarded him many First Places in the national competitions of the Mok-Woo Art Society. Park is still the youngest person ever to have competed in these competitions. After graduating from Jung Ang University in 1973, Park traveled to France, where he studied painting and lived with other young artists in Paris. His artistic style today clearly reflects the inspiration of the French Impressionists. After world-wide travels, Park returned Europe, where he lived for the next fourteen years, in Greece, Cyprus and France. While in Europe, Park continued to study and to evolve his vision of impressionism and hyper-realism. Park came to the United States in 1994, where he continues to live on the coast of Southern California. He has exhibited in the most prestigious American galleries and in March 1996, he first exhibited at the New York ArtExpo. In March 1998, Soho Editions, his exclusive publisher, introduced his first limited edition works.

Since arriving in the United States over a decade ago, master Russian artist Vadik Suljakov (pronounced Shul-ya-kov) has established himself as one of the most distinguished young impressionists in the country. Suljakov, born in the cultural center of Moscow in 1960, comes from an intellectual family with many generations of artists and writers. His parents gave him an excellent home education, which included painting by the age of seven. He continued with Russia's most rigid and traditional art education and from the age of twelve to twenty, he perfected his style. He studied at the Moscow First Art School and served apprenticeships at the Moscow Graphic Art Committee and the Moscow Art Group. In 1990, Suljakov left Russia like many other artists had done, because they were asked to tie their art to politics. He then spent a year in New York City with a group of other artists from his native Russia, working as a commercial artist. When asked how he feels about the United States, Suljakov emphatically states, "I came to America when the time was right, when I had enough experience to express my art and thought on canvas." In 1991, Suljakov relocated to sunny southern California. There, he was discovered by young art dealer Mark Siegel. Mark immediately recognized the young Russian's talent and jumped at the opportunity to represent him. Over the years, Suljakov has refined and perfected his vibrant textured style, which he achieves by using both acrylic and oils. Suljakov continues to reside in Southern California.

As a young painter, Stephen Holland could not afford to hire live models. The images he found in boxing magazines became his subjects. There he saw the male form in all its power and glory, expressed as contemporary gladiators. The magazine articles conveyed to him the determination and hard work any athlete must have to be a winner. Holland found this an inspiration to himself as an artist. He put as much discipline, devotion and determination into his own work to express what both he and the athlete experience.
None of this came easy for Holland, As a chid he was handicapped and had to watch his family and friends play sports. The steel brace he wore on his leg prevented him from attending neighborhood schools. But handicaps often heighten one's other sensitivities. This proved true for Stephen, his talents developed elsewhere. His gift for drawing grew as he sat and sketched his friends. Though his mother used to say he began drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil, Stephen's abilities actually blossomed while attending a special high school which devoted half of each day to art studies. He later attended the Art Students League, the School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute, all in New York City.
Holland's talent and contributions to art and sports received national recognition in 1994, when the American Sport Art Museum awarded him the honor of Sports Artist of the Year. Other honors include being the Official Artist of the Los Angeles Kings and being one of the twelve artists selected by the United States Olympic Committee to represent the 100th Anniversary of the Olympics. His work is found in the collections of celebrities, athletes, and private collectors around the globe.

Born in Altai, one of Russia?s most remote and off-the-beaten-track towns, Viktor Shvaiko grew up surrounded by the beauty of the wilderness. His natural inclination for fine arts and his strong urge to share his vision of nature drove him to find a way into the Novoaltaisk Artistic School, one of the two best schools for the arts in the former Soviet Union. Four years of strenuous studies enabled Viktor, a very diligent student, to acquire the skills of a true artist.
Viktor credits his teacher, Ilbek Khairoullinov, for a true fine arts education. A strict regimen of drawing, an intricate technique of using colors, and the influence of the 19th century Russian artist Karl Brynllow brought Viktor Shvaiko close to a traditional academic style of painting. After having attained technical excellence in the manner of these traditional influences, the artist now possessed the tools with which to express his feelings to the world. At this point, Viktor's main focus became the beautiful Altai landscapes. The Shvaiko family then moved to Transkarpathia, the western mountainous portion of Ukraine. There Viktor became enchanted with the picturesque and breathtakingly beautiful countryside. He continued to paint and was invited to show in two one-person expositions in Moukachevo in 1990 and a group exhibition in Hungary in 1991.
Shvaiko chafed under the stifling effect that the lingering Russian bureaucracy had on the careers of young artists. Unable to get a visa to a Western country, Viktor was permitted to travel to Yugoslavia. In the confusion of the civil war, he fled to Italy with his paintings strapped to his back, often encountering gunfire from roving bands of militia.
Having arrived in Italy virtually penniless, Viktor survived by selling his paintings on the streets of Rome. He managed to build a following for himself, and save some money. He eventually returned to a now more liberalized Russia, and was able to obtain passage to America.
Arriving in New York with little money and less English, Viktor was again able to survive by selling his work. It was here he developed his penchant for painting the little cafes and other intimate places that we see in his work today, and that have become his trademark. His enticing mix of beauty and mystery has drawn the interest and admiration of collectors from around the world.

Stephen Charles Shortridge, the artist may be more familiar to you as an actor. For fifteen years he has sold you such products as Mennen, Speedstick, Coke, Certs, and Head and Shoulders to name just a few of the over fifty TV commercials he's done. Theatrically he has starred as a series regular in "Welcome Back Kotter" as the southern sweathog 'Beau' and co-starred with Debbie Reynolds on the ABC show "Aloha Paradise". He spent the year of 1987 playing the role of David Reed as part of the original cast on the CBS daytime soap opera "The Bold and the Beautiful". It was after this role that Stephen set his priorities toward business and finally to pursue his love of art.
Stephen enjoyed acting but found painting much more creatively satisfying and explains, "...the feeling of being totally free to create as an artist is exciting to me. In acting a large part of the creative process had taken place by the time I was involved. The writer, director, and producer had already made many decisions about the character I would play. In contrast, painting gives me complete control. I may race along in a painting and have a disaster on my hands or something I'm proud of...but, I make the choices and accept the consequences good or bad. That's freedom...it's precious and the most fulfilling part of being an artist to me."
Born in Iowa and raised in Southern California Stephen excelled in art throughout his schooling but had mainly studied commercial art. He took his first painting class while attending Idaho State University on a Water Polo Scholarship (Stephen was an All-American). Without formal training, the French Impressionists became his teacher, Monet in particular. Preferring full colors and bold painting strokes Stephen has established his own aggressive style. Amongst Stephen's collector are celebrities Patty Duke, Donna Summer, and Rick Dees. Also while living in the LA area Stephen exhibited with a fellow actor/artists including accomplished artist Peter Falk.
"...As a final note I do have great fun painting! I thank God for everything, the least of which is to be creative and to paraphrase a famous line from "Chariots of Fire", "when I paint I feel His pleasure."
